Description

TWENTY TWO DYNAMIC ARTISTS TRANSFORM THE MAIN GALLERY

Prairie Ripples Art by Twenty Two Dynamic Artists fill PDAC’s Main Gallery

Portage la Prairie – The Portage & District Arts Centre (www.portageartscentre.ca) will be displaying Prairie Ripples Art exhibition by Twenty Two Dynamic Artists from February 21 to March 31, 2018. The opening reception is on Thursday, February 22, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Portage & District Arts Centre (PDAC) 11-2nd Street NE (west doors of the William Glesby Building).

Several local artists, wanting to create awareness of the talent living right here in Portage la Prairie formed this art group. Modeled after the popular Interlake art tour, “The Wave Tour”, they became known as The Prairie Ripples Art Tour. The Prairie Ripples Art Tour artists have been inviting the public into their studio spaces to see their artwork up close since 2006. This popular annual event is held in late August to early September. They celebrated their 10th year in 2016 and have since become recognized by their logo. Twenty-Two artists: Lee Beaton, Pat Crandell, Vern Crandell, Yvette Cuthbert, Connie Gretsinger, Faye Hildebrand, Sharon Kroeker, Olivia Leader, Heather Martens Rempel, Gabriele Neuschwander, John Nielsen, Leta Owens, Tatum Parsons, Jessica Fox, Rusty Rutherford, Sandi Storen, Dennis Wiens, Antoinette Blankvoort-Wieberdink, Cathy Epp, Sharon Green, Jeff Morris and Adrian De Ruyck created new artwork that is on display in the Main Gallery for this exhibition.

Please join us for the opening reception and artist talk on Thursday, February 22 at 7pm. The event is free and open to the public.

“Eugene Bell Jr.’s quote Aspire to Inspire Before you Expire is very important to Prairie Ripples Members. For over 10 years they have be sharing skills, techniques and enthusiasm with everyone during the studio tours”, says Gabriele Neuschwander.
