Administrator, Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers (WCD)
WCD creates, produces, teaches and presents professional contemporary dance with a view to furthering the art form for professional artists and audiences alike. Our goal is to advance contemporary dance through the presentation of exciting dance work that fosters and promotes excellence in dance.
We are looking for an Administrator for our Winnipeg office. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the administrator will be responsible for managing all administrative matters for the success of the company. This position will be located in Winnipeg's Exchange District, but may include remote work as needed. It is a 44 weeks per year, 3-year term, part-time contract with flexible hours, subject to continued funding.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
-Manage day-to-day operations of WCD (retrieve and respond to mail and email messages directed to WCD, plan and implement budget, monitor income and expenses to ensure WCD stays on budget and within funders’ parameters, maintain appropriate insurance policies, maintain appropriate records, oversee contracts, etc.);
-In collaboration with the Artistic Director and the Board, act as liaison with public funders, prepare grant applications, reports, and documentation required by funders or sponsors, in person or through the contracting of appropriate services;
-Review and sign contracts and agreements under the supervision of the Board, co-sign checks;
-Oversee contracts for staff and freelancers, ensure up-to-date job descriptions and performance evaluations;
-Coordinate the acquisition of, act as liaison for, professional services (audit, communication, other contractors) and order supplies as needed;
-In collaboration with the Artistic Director and Technical Director, assist with event planning, in person or through the contracting of appropriate services;
-In collaboration with the Artistic Director and Technical Director, manage WCD’s social media profile, including its website and email presence, in person or through the contracting of appropriate services;
-In collaboration with the Artistic Director and the Board, plan and implement fundraising activities, in person or through the contracting of appropriate services;
-In collaboration with the Technical Director, supervise and maintain the facility, in person or through the contracting of appropriate services;
-Prepare annual reports, provide monthly written progress reports to the Board with respect to budget performance, production scheduling, membership issues and year end matters, attend all board meetings;
-Carry out such responsibilities as the Board may reasonably require within the job remit.
The successful candidate for this position will possess:
-A University degree, College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma; an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
-Self-knowledge and ability to adjust methods to fit the situation;
-Ability to understand people, and to consider their viewpoints when making decisions; Proven organizational and project management abilities;
-Strong self-motivational skills and an ability to work unsupervised;
-A pro-active approach to work and a strong attention to detail;
-Experience in the arts sector an asset;
-Experience of grant application processes an asset.
